Why Amsterdam teams bring me this work

Accessibility shows why an Amsterdam product team might want an engineer rather than a plugin: the ACM has enforced the rules for e-commerce since 28 June 2025, and its first check of the largest Dutch online stores found that most of them couldn't take an order through assistive technology. I audit against WCAG 2.2, fix what the audit finds in your code, and add the checks that keep it fixed, alongside Next.js builds, performance work and the integrations a growing product needs.

What teams across the European Union bring me

  • The European Accessibility Act has applied since June 2025, and you need to know what to fix first in your product.
  • Your stack has to pass a GDPR review: data maps, processor terms, transfers and retention.

The hours we share with Amsterdam

Amsterdam is on Central European Time: your 09:00 is 13:30 in Mumbai in winter and 12:30 in summer. Your morning and early afternoon fall inside my working day, so audit findings are walked through live, and every fix ships with a note on what changed and how to check it.

Each city's 09:00–18:00 working day on the clock in Mumbai (UTC+5:30), in January and in July, so daylight saving is accounted for.

Accessibility law

The Netherlands transposed the European Accessibility Act through the Implementatiewet toegankelijkheidsvoorschriften producten en diensten (Staatsblad 2024, 87, signed 8 April 2024). It amends several laws, including the Civil Code for e-commerce services, and names the Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) as a competent authority.

Accessibility enforcement

Since 28 June 2025 the ACM has enforced accessibility rules for e-commerce and electronic communications services. They apply to companies with 10 or more employees or more than €2 million in annual turnover, and the ACM uses WCAG 2.1 level AA as the benchmark, with WCAG 2.2 AA expected to become the standard during 2026.

The first checks

An ACM check of about 100 of the largest Dutch online stores found that on 61 per cent of them it was impossible to place an order using assistive technology.

Questions from Amsterdam teams

What hours do we share with Amsterdam?

Your 09:00 is 13:30 in Mumbai from late October to late March and 12:30 in summer. Your morning and early afternoon are inside my working day, which is when audit walkthroughs and reviews happen.

Does the accessibility law apply to our Dutch web shop?

If you have 10 or more employees or more than €2 million in annual turnover, the ACM says it does, and it has enforced the rules for e-commerce since 28 June 2025. Its benchmark is WCAG 2.1 level AA, with WCAG 2.2 AA expected to become the standard during 2026, so I audit against 2.2. Confirm what applies with your counsel.

Do you have an office in Amsterdam?

No. I work remotely from Mumbai, with no office or staff in the Netherlands, and I don't offer in-person meetings in Amsterdam. Audits are walked through on video, with the full report in writing.
